SolarBox - Advantages
Robustness
The SolarBox was specially developed to be able to withstand very harsh climatic conditions. The components selected - aluminum sides and edge reinforcement as well as the stackable steel corners guarantee that even under large mechanical loads the box will maintain its proper shape.
Quality
No compromises were made on the choice of components. All connectors (Neutrik/SCI) protect against water and dust. Inside the SolarBox the charge controller (Morningstar) guarantees the optimum performance of the maintenance free, sealed, solar battery over many years.
Ease of Use
The steps to put the SolarBox into operation are:
- Place the PV module facing the sun and connect it to the SolarBox (charging is shown by a green LED)
- Connect appliance (all connectors are protected against reverse polarity) to the SolarBox and switch on
Flexibility
The SolarBox is an intelligent 12V DC energy storage for photovoltaic applications. It can also be:
- mounted in parallel with other SolarBoxes;
- used with an inverter to operate 230 V or 110 V AC devices;
- charged from a wind generator or a 'pico' hydro power installation;
- integrated with (or without) a photovoltaic module as a second battery in a 12V supply system (for example in a car or on a boat); or
- used with or without a photovoltaic module in conjunction with a special inverter as a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) backup system.
